Who is Emily Dickinson?

Emily Dickinson was born in Amherst Massachusetts on December 10, 1830. She was raised properly with high standards from her father. As she grew up, Emily's father was known to be the head of the household. Due to Emily's mother being ill, her mother had minimal impact in how she was raised. Emily's father insisted on raising her to grow up to be a polite Christian woman. She had many interests, with reading being a major one. Though Emily had lots of interest towards reading, her father did not. Her father disapproved of any written words that may have the ability to "corrupt" her way of religion and lifestyle. Even though Emily's father disapproved of such writings, she had a sense of curiosity and adventure within her. Emily was a very unique individual and therefore she used writings and poetry to express how she felt.
