Main Characters

Guy Montag–He is the main protagonist of the book. His duty, as a fireman, is to set fire to any books his team is called to destroy. He begins to question why he has to burn books.

Clarisse McClellan–She is Guy Montag's 17 year old neighbor. To the society in this book, she is considered strange because of the way she thinks. She befriends Guy, and opens his mind up to the world.

Captain Beatty–He is the leader of Guy Montag's fireman unit. He understands why Guy is curious about what is inside books, because he knows a lot about books himself. He tries to make Guy believe that books have only caused trouble for people for many years.

Professor Faber–Guy Montag had met him, holding a book, in a park a year earlier. Faber eventually teams up with Guy to help bring books and intellect back into society. In a way, he is very similar to Captain Beatty, because he is very adamant about his view on books.
