• REALISE

I think that is a huge opportunity for me to learn A LOT about myself and other people around me. I will learn a lot of helpful life skills that we can’t necessarily learn in the classroom and learning how to manage a life like doing things like, feeding myself, staying healthy, pushing my limits, having a resilient and independent mindsets, learning to rely on yourself, building really good teamwork skills, all to grow and reach my fullest potential. I think it will definitely be a really important experience/opportunity this year.

• Science

At my old school, science wasn’t considered as a high priority and if we had science topics, we didn’t have them often or went too deep into the subject so I when I came to the school I didn’t have a strong foundation in this subject and a lot of the concepts were new to me. I’m glad that this school is really advanced in this and it has given and will give me the opportunity to learn so many new things and apply them.

SWOT GOALS

MY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

• Social Media

I know I spend a lot of time on social media because I could spend hours JUST on Instagram. Now that I think about it, it’s not actually that interesting but when you’re on social media you just keep clicking things and then one thing leads to another and then you get distracted by more and more things and then you don’t realise how much time you’ve wasted.

• Myself

I think what I think of myself is a huge learning threat because there are a lot of things related to myself that can affect my learning negatively. For example, I have a reasonably short attention span and I have a lazy eye so I daydream a lot and stare into nothingness. If I feel anxious or unconfident, it really affects the way I act and the way I treat other people so that could really impact my learning. I don’t think I have ever reached a stage of frustration where I have decided to completely give up and not do the work but I have gotten close to it from stress and if it did happen, I think it would be a disaster.

• Entertainment

This includes watching TV shows, YouTube, reading, and any other kind of entertainment. I’d say that YouTube is worse than social media because the video content is probably more captivating and there is literally so much content on there so I keep getting distracted and watching video after video after video. TV shows are just plain addictive and books take time to read so depending on how slow or fast you are at reading (I’m on the slower side) or how good the book is, I could read into the early hours of the morning. All of these things are super distracting and addictive and can affect more than just my schoolwork but my overall health.
