Court Packing Scheme
FDR's court packing scheme was just that: a scheme. FDR wanted to pack the court with people he chose, people who would no doubt support most or all of his decisions. This was wrong for him to even propose doing, without believing people would see through his scheme. Although The New Deal would indeed help America greatly out of the Depression, packing the court with judges who would most likely agree to anything FDR proposed would not be fair. It would upset the balance of the government, and most presidents don't even get the opportunity to appoint one Supreme Court judge, let alone six. Even supporters of Roosevelt were disappointed in his judgementwhen producing this plan. Franklin D. Roosevelt was a good president who made a lot of reforms that helped heal the country after the Depression; however, his court packing scheme is probably his most regrettable action. President's should not be able to choose who votes on their decisions because then the American people's real decisions would not be listened to.
