Groups of the New Deal
CCC: The Civilian Conservation Corps, or the CCC , was created by FDR to counter the depression's impact on young men. It mostly started out catering to young white men, but later became more inclusive to cater to Mexican Americans as well as other male minorities. The CCC's work extended throughout America, providing 2 million jobs such as replanting forests, building trails, digging irrigation ditches, and fighting fires.
REA: The Rural Electrification Administration (REA) was to bring the problems of desolate farmers to light. This program loaned money to electric companies to build power lines in rural farming areas. Because of this program, by 1950, about 80 percent of American farms had access to electricity, a large influx compared to less than 10 percent just a short time before.
