The Taj Mahal
Mumtaz Mahal was Shah Jahan's childhood bride. They were in an arranged marriage but fell in love. He would spend most of his time with her then any other of his wives. She was rich and got payed and lavished with expensive gifts. During a war, she gave gave birth to her fifteenth child and died. Jahan fasted for eight days, wore plain clothes and stayed in his chambers for two years. After this time he started constructing the Taj Mahal, that he said would closely resemble her house in the afterlife.
