The origin of this salute all started when a solider extended his right arm to eye level to his leader, and he responded the same way. From there the salute began to be used as greetings followed after "Hail Hitler". This salute has also replaced some of the German greeting words such as "Guten tag" meaning good day. The sign began being pretty small being passed from family to friend and friend to stranger. It began becoming well known for obedience and acceptance.
