This is a plant cell found in a spruce needle. In the picture taken under a microscope, many mesophyll cells filled with green chloroplasts can be seen. Because the section cut was so thick, only a few long, palisade cells can be seen around the outside. The larger, "empty" looking cells that seem to be on the top are epidermal cells.
