BURMESE RUBIES

a treasure from deep within the earth

Burma (also known as Myanmar) has long been the source of the world’s finest rubies. The Mogok Valley is home to mines that consistently produced high-quality stones, including the prized “pigeon’s blood” color rubies. Pigeon’s blood hearkens back to an ancient Burmese tradition of sacrifice, and the color is a deep blue-red with pure red fluorescence.

Ancient Burmese warriors sewed rubies under their skin before going into battle, thinking the ruby would make them invincible.
