Comets

These objects are some of the smaller objects in the solar system but when they get close to the sun, these form large gas clouds. They are made of a solid nucleus of rock and surrounded by dusty ice.

Comets were formed when the solar system was formed. Each time the comet goes around the sun, the sun rays melt part of their icy material, and that is why we see a “big tail” forming behind it.

One of the most famous comets is the Haley because of its size.

There has been even comets that have fallen to Earth.
