On a less specific note, humanity follows a set of laws--or in perhaps a more simplistic term, patterns. All humans have necessities in order to survive: water, shelter, food, etc. One cannot forego water and expect to live. You may "choose" how much and how often they drink water, but they cannot deny they require it.

Oh, the Humanity!

Certain patterns or habits can define the majority of the human race. At birth, we crawl, mumble gibberish, and are dependent upon others to care for us. As children we ask questions, handle ourselves fairly well but still require the external influence of adults. As adults we are fully capable individuals. In our elderly phase, we're back to our stage dependency and our bodies begin to fail.

In explanation of the left columns, as individuals we differ in personal preference, talents, weaknesses, and minuscule choices. But we cannot decide the stages of our life and death. We cannot deny the common trends of humans as a race.
