Thomas Jefferson

Presidential term: March 4, 1801 – March 4, 1809

Major events- 12th Amendment was adopted to fix a problem in the Constitution that had allowed Thomas Jefferson to tie in the Electoral College with his vice presidential candidate Aaron Burr.Embargo act Britain and France imposed trade restrictions in order to weaken each others' economies. They also had the effect of disrupting American trade and testing the United States neutrality. Was a land deal between the United States and France, where the U.S. Got approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million dollars.f

Jefferson was a founding fathers and was the author of the Declaration of Independence. He served in the legislature. He earned over 200 slaves in his lifetime.
