Space Probes Put to Use
In 1976, the first two successful Space Probes were sent to Mars to collect information about the planet as well as features of the planet. Viking 1 and Viking 2 analyzed the soil of Mars and the chemicals in the soil for evidence of any simple life structures. The space probes also measured the wind speed, the wind direction, the temperature, and the air pressure. The final task of the two probes was to map the Martian surface and to send back all information to NASA Scientists.
