Structure of wall is four layers.
1) Mucosa protects underneath layers and used for secretion and absorption.
2) sub mucosa loose CT, glands, blood vessels, and nerves. Vessels nourish surrounding tissue and carry away absorbed tissues.
3) Muscular layer produces movement 2 coats of smooth muscle tissue. Fibers of first coat encircle the tube. Fibers of second coat go lengthwise.
4) Serosa protect underneath layers. Secrete serous fluid that aids in lubricating outer layer of tube.
The alimentary canal
