The seizure of the Liberty was considered to be a huge invasion of privacy from the British. In 1768 a famous smuggler by the name of John Hancock had his ship seized for illegal smuggling. Of course the colonists refused to see the ugly side of it all and completely ignored the fact that John had illegal merchandise and so began rioting in the streets.
