The Townshend Acts were incorporated in 1767. These acts taxed any British goods purchased by the colonies such as their beloved tea. England argued that these laws were made to stop smuggling throughout the colonies once and for all. Colonists wanted to at very least have a say before these kinds of laws were passed.
