Experiencing China: Through the Looking Glass

Looking through the images and reading the descriptions I was immediately reminded of on own experiences of classical Chinese women apparel and attitude.

I have experienced similar styles and stereotypes of Chinese women in movies like Kung Po;Kung Fu Hustle; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; and Forbidden City.

Style and clothing within the exhibit and in Crouching Tiger, are very similar. However within the exhibit the women’s clothing is much tighter and form fitting. Also the mood of the women is much more mysterious and sexual than in movies like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
