Joseph Haydn was an 18th century composer. He was part of the classical period. Joseph Haydn played a major role in developing chamber music. Haydn is one of the most prominent composers of his time. Haydn is fondly referred to as "the father of the symphony" and "father of the String Quartet". His musically inclined parents got him into music training at a young age. Joseph Haydn blossomed into a good singer and sang in a choir as a boy. Haydn struggled to establish a career , he had a string of jobs. Even though Haydn was a very talented singer and instrumentalist he self educated himself by studying the work of prominent composers. He caught the attention of an Italian composer who taught him true fundamentals. Haydn was appointed the court musician of a rich family the Esterhòzy's. Joseph Haydn wrote 104 symphony's, 32 piano trios, 62 piano sonatas, and over 90 string quartets.
