Tundra-in the Tundra the average winter temperature is -30 degrees Fahrenheit but in the summer the average temperature is 45 degrees Farenheit. The Tundras average rainfall is 6-10 inches. Temperature and sun exposure are generally so low evaporation is minimal, historically classified as humid. Total precipitation is below 10 inches.
Icecap-the icecap covers approximately 9 % of the earths surface. The warmest month average is -0 degrees Fahrenheit and the coldest month is usually -30 degrees Fahrenheit to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Less than 5 inches of precipitation each year, evaporation is minimal.
Highland- Freezing temperatures along the equator depend on the elevation. When determining the conditions you must look at windward or leeward location and angle of mountain peak to determine sun exposure.
Desert- the rainfall is very low of 10 inches per year. The maximum temperatures is 40 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius. Night timer temperatures can drop to freezing or below.
Semiarid- they receive less than 5 to 15 inches of rain per year. They only have 2 seasons which is winter and summer, where winter is very cold and summer is very hot.
Tropical Wet- Is the region closest to the equator. Very little seasonal variation, monthly averages are around 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Warm temperatures, high humidity and high precipitation characterizes this classification. Year round range of precipitation is from 60 to 100 inches per year.
Tropical Wet and Dry- year round range of 15 degrees to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Precipitation is concentrated within the spring and summer months. These areas receive 35-70 inches of precipitation each year. Fall and winter are completely dry.
Humid Subtropical- 40-60 inches of precipitation, winter months can not be described as dry. Summer temperatures are usually average between 70 degrees Fahrenheit to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, when winter is 10 degrees to 20 degrees Fahrenheit colder than the Mediterranean. Shorter growing season.
Marine West Coast- wind on the waters moderate temperature. Summer average is 60 degrees to 70 degrees Fahrenheit while winter is 35 degrees to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Precipitation ranges from 30 to 50 inches per year. This region has high humidity levels and a large number of cloudy, foggy days.
Mediterranean- the winter average temperature is 50 degrees to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Most precipitation in the winter months between 15 to 25 inches. Summers are dry and moderate with temperatures around 75 degrees to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Humid Continental- the summer temperatures are around 70 degrees Fahrenheit and short in duration. Winter averages are around 10 degrees to 25 degrees Fahrenheit with 1-5 months experiencing temperatures below freezing. Precipitation averages from 20 to 50 inches per year.
Subarctic- this region usually has a 6-7 month period with temperatures below freezing. Ice formations can be found from September until May. Summer temperatures average from 50 degrees to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The precipitation levels are very low from 5 to 20 inches mainly in the summer months.
