• Adaptions help species live in certain conditions.
Ex:
Finches first had large beaks to eat larger food sources. As they moved to different parts of the island their beaks became smaller and longer to adapt to an environment where there was smaller prey.
•Adaptions make it possible for species to survive in different living conditions.
Ex:
Finches first had large beaks which allowed them to eat bigger food sources. As the birds moved to different parts of the island their beaks became smaller and longer so that they could eat smaller food sources.
Adaptions allow organisms to survive in certain living conditions.
Ex:
Finches at first had large beaks to eat larger food sources. As they migrated to different parts of the island, their beaks became smaller so that they can eat smaller food sources.
• Natural selection gets rid of unfavorable traits/species.
Ex:
A green beetle and a brown beetle's offspring are brown and green. The green beetles are eaten by predators since they don't blend in, over time all of the green beetles will die off.
Adaptions & natural selection
• Adaptions allow organisms to survive in certain conditions.
Ex:
At first finches beaks were large so they could eat large food sources. As the birds migrated to different parts of the island, their beaks became smaller and longer so that they could eat smaller food sources.
• Natural selection makes species become more specific by getting rid of unwanted traits.
Ex:
A green and a brown beetle offspring are green and brown. The green beetles are eaten by predators because they don't blend in, so there becomes less and less green beetles. Overtime the brown beetle population masks the green.
