An autotroph is an organism that makes its own food in order to survive. An example is the flower to the left. A flower is a autotroph because it makes its own food through photosynthesis.

A Heterotroph is an organism that gets or hunts for its food and does not make it's own food. An example of this is a dog. A dog must find food to eat other than make it's own food.
