Section 1: The Holiness of God

Holiness - spiritual trait that seeks wholeness in our relationship with God through our cooperation with God's grace and our efforts to follow Jesus, comes from "halig" meaning to seek holiness


Virtue - the vigorous disposition to do what's good. Through God's grace and hard work, we acquire the moral virtues. God gives us the theological virtues.


Sanctify - to make holy or to consecrate


Theological virtues (gifts from God) - faith, hope, and charity (love)


Moral virtues (gained through the grace of God and from our efforts to follow Jesus) - prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance
