Out of bounds

When basketball was first introduced, out of bounds rules became a problem. Before the first person to touch the ball had priority of ball possession. Leading to pushing, shoving, and fights. Finally by 1913 the rule was updated and is still current. The team to cause or touch the ball making it go out of bounds, looses possession.
