Bay of Pigs Invasion

1961, considered a major blunder for Kennedy, it was a CIA plan under Eisenhower that tried to use Cuban exiles to overthrow Castro’s regime. The CIA trained the force but they failed to set off a general uprising. They had no choice but to surrender, because Kennedy refused to send military aid. Castro used this incident to incite more aid from the Soviet Union.
