-The first chapter sets the scene for the whole book since Dede is explaining her and her sisters life to a reporter

-The first chapter also shows how Dede is the only surviving sister and how she is still coping with it

-The switching of the character's points of view showed the events either from the best perspective that show the most information or just from an interesting perspective

-Everybody has different perspectives

-The more perspectives that you can see, the more knowledgable and worldly you become

-It is often very difficult to see other people's points of view

-Understanding other people's view can be frustrating and you may think you are right, but once the other person explains their side, you may see things differently
