Unbroken accuracy

• The movie Unbroken is an excellent representation of the treatment of Japanese prisoners of war and the story of Louis Zamperini.

• In the movie Unbroken there is a scene where they Japanese captured Louis and Phil and they begin to torture and starve them in order to get information about where the United States would strike next. During this time, this was a very common thing for the Japanese to do.

• All throughout the movie, it is constantly shown how horribly the POWs were treated and how they went behind the guards backs to try and get something decent to eat. For example, they began to stuff their clothes with grain when they were loading it, so that they would be able to survive the night.

• Unbroken showed short scenes at the beginning of the movie where Louis was at his base camp and where he was in the plane that shit down. Throughout the movie, the POWs were trying to understand what was going on in terms of the Allied forces advancement. Since the movie mostly focused on Louis and his experience, it is not the best representation of the War in the Pacific.

• The movie also touched on Louis' life before the war, which was essential to the rest of the story. For example, when they were stranded in the Pacific, Louis told the story of how his mom used to make home cooked meals in his childhood. They also summarized the story on how Louis became an Olympic runner, which led to his excessive torture.

• The only part of the movie that I found hard to understand was when their plane was being shot at by the Japanese because I wasn't able to hear what was going on and what the Japanese had destroyed.
