Political Cartoon

Zelda is the beautiful flower who lays on a foundation of the 1920s: something that defines her especially. In this cartoon she puts up a facade (shield) in order to deter reality and other terrible things from getting to her and stabbing her. However her shield is cracking and that depicts the fact that she cannot fully escape reality of life. On the other side, bricks such as Scott, patriarchy, and societal standards are pressing her from getting nourishment such as a career and motivation in order to grow her leaves(hobbies): writing painting, love, and dancing. Without the nourishment she cannot develop her purpose and beauty in life and is left to battle with her illness, the Great Depression, and reality.
