Effect of Released Hormones

-Insulin helps control blood glucose levels

-signals the liver, muscle and fat cells to take in

glucose from the blood

-negative feedback: decrease amount of

feedback

-Glucagon helps maintain normal concentrations

of glucose in blood (often described as having the

opposite effect of insulin)

-glucagon has the effect of increasing blood

glucose levels

-negative feedback: increases amount of

glucose

-Insulin and glucagon are the antagonistic hormones, there are no antagonistic hormones towards

them
