How to read the course material like a boss.

This is merely a suggestion. Everyone learns differently. Some of you may feel that you need to read the textbook like a novel… cover to cover. If that works of you, don’t change. However, here is how I would take PSYC 1## - 2## if I were an undergrad again:

1. Read the assignment like you were a 3rd grader (15-20 minutes)

2. Go over the end of chapter quiz or any assigned quiz.

3. Before lecture, re-skim the assignment (10 minutes) looking for topics you

don’t quite grasp.

4. Come to lecture. Listen. Ask questions!

5. Go back and re-read the assignment a bit more in depth (20-30 minutes).

You may notice this calls for about an hour of reading… which is about how long it would take to sit down and read the entire chapter or assignment straight through. Learning occurs in small chunks.. the more chunks, the better!
