The battle of fort Sumter was bombardment and surrender of the fort Sumter near Charleston, South Carolina. This really sparked the American civil war following declarations of secessions by 7 states. Lincoln was urgent to attack the fort that's sat in the middle of Charleston harbor. It was so urgent that South Carolina authorities tried to starve 100 fort Sumter troops into surrender. This was not good for the civilians in the area because the fort had a clear view of main land and could easy capture the area. The fort was armed with artillery which was not good either. Eventually on April 12, confederate artillery opened fire in the fort and in 34 hours the fort was up in flames.
