The first city of jazz is New Orleans. We know that for sure.

What is not clear is when did it start or who started it.

Some people will say that jazz was born in 1895, when Buddy Bolden started his first band. Others will say in 1917, when Nick LaRocca and his Original Dixieland Jazz Band recorded the first jazz record.
