Lester Horton (1906 - 1953) developed his own unique style of dance choreography and technique. He was adept at translating Native American and ethnic dances into dances that worked well in films of the 1940s and early 1950s. The influence of Lester Horton is seen in the works of many later dancers, jazz and otherwise.
