Characters

•Xeones (Xeo): The main character/A Spartan squire of Dienekes who was captured by the Persian during The Battle of Thermopylae/Forced to recount his story so that the Persians can learn more about the Spartan ways and how to strategize against them.

•Alexandros: Protege of Dienekes/Xeo's sparring partner and later best friend/Desperately wants to become a warrior but has asthma.

•Dienekes: Spartan warrior/Father-figure to Xeo.

•Polynikes: Knight and Olympic champion/Looks down at everyone especially Alexandros.

•Diomache: Xeo's cousin and love interest/Split away from Xeo and was later reunited with him later in the book (although they did not stay together).

•Leonidas: King of Lakedaemonian/Loved by all the Spartans

•Rooster: Rude and inappropriate/Squire for Alexandros' father until he died/Same situation as Xeo.

•King Xerxes: King of Persia.
