Roland is one of the last gunslingers, which means when he was younger he was trained to wield guns, after some events disclosed to the reader he is own the trail of the man in black because the trail leads to the Dark Tower.

The man in black is a character that is very indef. We learn in Tull that he can be very arrogant and unpredictable. In the book we don’t learn a lot about this mysterious man in black.
