The Shinto Creation Story (The Origin of Japan)

-At the beginning of time, all of the heavens and earths were mixed together in one big cloud. The cloud began to separate and the clearer parts of the cloud rose up and became the heaven and the heavier parts of the cloud went down and became an ocean.

-A green sprout began to grow between the heavens and the earth and when the plant’s flower burst open, the First God emerged. The First God created Izanagi(god of light) and his wife Izanami. Izanagi was the one responsible for finishing the task of creating the rest of the world.
