Creation Myths

-All of the creation stories demonstrate the very close relationship between the gods and the people of Japan.

-The Foundation of Shintoism:

-They believe that Japan was the first land to be created

-If certain rituals are not followed properly, bad things may happen

-If the natural order of things are disturbed, bad things will happen

-They believe that all females should be submissive to men.

-Imperfect children can be abandoned

-Kami(Their word for the gods) are created by the same process as human beings

(Kami also refers to the concept of sacred power in both living and non-living things)
