In 1840, the World Antislavery Convention was held in London. Their motto was "To better organize and unite abolitionist forces in the fight for emancipation." Women were denied seats and forced to sit in the gallery. This launched efforts to bring about women's rights and Seneca women's rights convention was held in 1848. Then, in 1848, the married women's property act was passed in New York. With that, anesthesia was used in childbirth for the 1st time and this was very opposed by the church.
