Feudalism Roles

Western Europe:

King: the king of Feudalist societies in Europe was not a great power except for the fact that they owned a lot of land and loyalty from lords.

Nobles: Many nobles ran areas of land called manors in which peasant serfs would work for them in return for a place to live. These lords were very powerful.

Knights: Gave lords and their manors protection in exchange for land.

Peasants: Mostly worked on manors and lived simple lives.

Japan:

Emperor: Not very powerful because the shogun, military leader, was more influential and powerful within this system.

Daimyo: A warlord that owned a lot of land and power. They owned armies to protect themselves and their peasants.

Samurai: Extremely loyal and disciplined warriors who were hired by warlords to protect them,

Peasants: Peasants worked on their land and live poor and simple lives.
