The Questioner is dressed in all black. I believe this has some significance. This is because this man is evil and trying to take the man and make him suffer, and also take away the birds potential life because the old man feeds them. The man dressed in all black symbolizes doom. But when the old man gets his last question right, He disappears and the curtain he was under turns white. This symbolizes life and freedom again.
