Why Are We Using Ubuntu?
There are two basic reasons. The first is that Ubuntu is a stable and generally reliable version of the Linux operating system, and its ongoing development has been managed carefully. The second reason is that Ubuntu is probably the best documented Linux distribution, owing to its popularity and the success of several related documentation projects.
(Of the many other Linux distributions, Debian and Fedora, which is the community version of RedHat’s Linux system, are arguably the best in terms of functionality and documentation. I prefer Debian, in large part because I prefer the APT package management system, but also because its performance tends to be crisper and less resource-intensive.)
