This example, at a quick glance, almost fully resembles a formally symmetrical room, but I chose this example because I wanted to show the fact that only few subtle changes can alter the ultimate feeling and formalness of the room. Here the room is balanced because of the placing of the objects equally on each side (left vs right) but the room is asymmetrical in the fact that there is a plant on one side and a desk on the other. There are other examples in the room such as the vase by the fireplace that give the room a sense of relaxation and comfort. The room is overall, balanced, but not formally symmetrical.

THE LAW OF BALANCE: ASYMMETRICAL & UNFORMAL
