On September 14, 1965, Pope Paul VI announced the establishment of the Synod of Bishops called for by the Council fathers. Pope Paul VI was elected pope on June 21, 1963. Pope Paul in 1916 after entering the seminary, lived at home due to health issues. Pope Paul died of a heart attack on August 6, 1978, at Castel Gandolfo and was succeeded by John Paul I.
