1. Depressive episodes at a particular time of the year

2. Remissions or mania/hypomania at a certain time of year

3. The depression/manic patterns must have lasted two years with no other non seasonal major depressive episodes during that time

4. The season depressive episodes must be more numerous than any other depressive episodes during the patients lifetime
