January 31, 1865 & July 28, 1868 : 13th & 14th Amendment passed

• These amendments were passed during the presidency

•Lincoln always stated that he wasn’t precisely against slavery, rather he just wanted peace and the Civil War to end

•13th Amendment : Abolishes Slavery

• 14th Amendment : Allows slaves to vote

•Color people people still endured much discrimination and mistreatment, but they’ve made a large amount of progress throughout the years

•Freedom of slaves inspired women to advocate for their own rights
