The qualities of a player are important to understand. Each player brings a unique set of qualities to their squad, which to a varying degree shapes the look of their team and impacts on their identity (how others think of them).
Their combined qualities are the personality & character of their squad. This is important stuff to know. Consider how their qualities may positively or negatively impact their playing position.
A useful exercise is to look at your squad and assign each player their three most notable positive qualities, then set up a squad team sheet indicating where you think their present qualities may be best suited to playing position.
Vis-a-vis for their less positive qualities. With this information you can coach players to their strengths, or, explore their weaknesses and possibly uncover solutions that add value to their individual development.
This is not a pigeon-holing exercise to prove some pet theory to keep players playing in definitive positions, so please be cognisant of this?
It is about better understanding your players and how you can add value to each of them. Here are a few to consider, and I'm sure you can add more.
