Precautions to prevent SIDS

One-Make sure that your baby is always laying on his/hers back. By making your baby lay on their back, it will open air ways and reduce the chance of SIDS.

Two-Make sure your baby's head is uncovered at all times when sleeping. Make sure that you put your baby's feet at the end of the cot and tuck him/her in no higher than the shoulders. This will prevent the baby from wriggling under the blankets.

Three-Make sure that the bedding is firm. Also check that you have not got a water mattress, bean bags, baby nests and fleecy wool in the cot. Check to make sure that the mattress fits the cot perfectly with no gaps around the edges.

Four-try to monitor your baby's temperature. It may seem hard to tell when your baby has a temperature but here are a few hints: sweating, damp hair, heat rash or rapid breathing. You can check if your baby is too hot if you feel the baby's tummy or neck.
