In the short story Come Again In the spring, there were many symbols. One symbol that jumped out at me was the birds. I feel that the birds symbolize all of his good memories and happiness and that to me is what motivated him to stay living, to enjoy a little more for as long as he can. In every scene where death appeared and questioned him, you saw the birds and I think that he is not ready to fly away yet but to make more memories and keep the old. I feel that the only motivation he had to stay living was for the birds, to help them and I think maybe that could have been him at a point of his life, cold and alone.Finally I think he wants to sort of preserve the birds like his good memories for as long as he can.
