Thailand means the ‘land of the free’ and was known as Siam till 1939. Originally, it was completely under the rule of the Thai monarchy. But, at present, it is a constitutional monarchy that has King Bhumibol Adulyadej as the ruling monarch. He has set a record of being one of the largest serving kings of Thailand. In a first for the country, a woman Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has assumed office in the country.
