White tailed deer are the smallest members of the North American deer family. The adults have reddish-brown coats in the summer and a duller grayish-brown color in the winter. Deer normally weigh between 110 pounds to 300 pounds. Their feeding times are at dawn and dusk. They are herbivores so they do not eat meat. They have good eye sight and hearing to detect when a predator is coming. The male grows antlers which are shed each fall and grow back yearly . A male is known as a buck, a female a doe and young deer a fawn. White tail deer are the most popular large game animal in the United States.
