Common Milkweed is an important plant because so many species of insects depend on it. Species such as the Milkweed leaf beetle can only eat milkweed without it they would not be able to live that is why it is so important to its ecosystem. Milkweed can grow to be up to 6 feet tall. It has large broad leaves usually four to ten inches long. Milkweed exudes a thick white sap from any cut or broken surface. This plant is found along roads, in gardens and in fields. They have pods on them which are green which will turn brown and break open to let the seeds go in the wind so they can reproduce. They are considered to be a type of weed.
